In the community and around the country
At Heartland Bank we recognise we have a responsibility to assist the communities in which we operate. We take a national and regional approach to sponsorship, and support a number of organisations, clubs and schools including through the Heartland Trust. The Heartland Trust is a registered charitable trust which is independent from, but closely supported by, Heartland. It was established to support those organisations dedicated to helping young New Zealanders to unlock their true potential.
Who we sponsor & support

Fostering our future workforce
Heartland is proud to sponsor the InZone Education Foundation, an organisation that aims to enhance the educational outcomes of Māori and Pasifika youth by running boarding hostels that enable students to attend high-performing state schools. As part of our partnership with InZone, Heartland welcomes a number of students to work in paid internship positions – some interns have since gone on to permanent employment with Heartland.
Celebrating the written word
Heartland has been the platinum partner of Auckland Writers Festival since 2017. The event hosts some of the top writers and thinkers from around the world, attracting audiences as large as 75,000 people. The Auckland Writers Festival caters for a diverse range of ages, interests and cultures – we’re pleased to support such an inspiring festival.
A pinnacle of Māori performing arts
We are proud to be part of Te Matatini festival, the pinnacle cultural event for Māori performing arts. Being part of something so central to Māori culture provides us with an opportunity to share our knowledge on financial wellbeing, while also enjoying the beauty of kapa haka.
Encouraging young auctioneers
Heartland has been a major sponsor of the Young Auctioneer of the Year competition at the Canterbury A&P show since 2012. The national competition showcases and develops young auctioneers, improving standards across the board. With Heartland’s support, the New Zealand competition winner has the opportunity to try their hand at selling cattle at the Sydney Royal A&P show.
Supporting mental wellbeing
Heartland financially assists Lifeline to be able to offer a free 24-hour, 7 days a week phone service. This is a confidential service to support Kiwis going through difficult times. With many Kiwis struggling with mental health, we are thankful to be supporting the provision of such a vital service.
Providing opportunities for future leaders
Our partnership with Kupe Leadership Scholarships has provided our Heartland Scholar, Tamati Rakena a generous stipend, a personal mentor and the opportunity to participate in the Kupe cohort leadership programme. We are thrilled to be a part of Tamatis journey as he studies his Masters of Education at Auckland University.
