Anti-Money Laundering Law

The Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (AML/CFT Law) is designed to help detect and deter money laundering and terrorism financing.

As a financial institution, Heartland Bank is required by law to comply with the AML/CFT Act.

The law requires us to collect specific information from customers, to verify their identity and address, and in some situations the source of funds/or wealth.

Information from the Ministry of Justice website on what is required as a customer or a person acting on behalf of a customer - can be found here.

Our identification requirements are explained here, with the full list of forms of identification and address verification available here.
